The Mamanuca Marine Protection and Rescue Initiative (MMPRI) Joint Taskforce has completed a successful three-day community outreach operation in Solevu Village, delivering essential government services while strengthening maritime security and community engagement.

Led by the Fiji Police Force in collaboration with MMPRI and other government agencies, the initiative combined maritime enforcement with direct service delivery to residents in the remote maritime community.

A major focus of the operation was education and awareness.

The Online Safety Commission and the Department of Social Welfare conducted sessions in local schools, educating students, teachers and community members on online safety, responsible digital behaviour and the social support services available to them.

The taskforce says these awareness programmes will continue as part of its long-term commitment to community development and public education.

Police say the hybrid operational model, which integrates law enforcement, government services and community outreach into a single coordinated effort, has proven effective in improving access to essential services while strengthening relationships with communities.

The MMPRI also received positive feedback and strong interest from business stakeholders across Malolo and the wider Mamanuca region.

Authorities say the initiative will continue over the long term, with efforts underway to secure ongoing support and resources to keep the programme funded and operational.

The Fiji Police Force says it will continue leading the MMPRI Joint Taskforce alongside partner agencies to enhance maritime security, promote community wellbeing and improve access to government services throughout the Mamanuca region.
