The Naitasiri Warriors School Girls Rugby League team of Wainimala Secondary School emerged triumphant and scooped the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League Vodafone Pherrus Trophy yesterday at Prince Charles Park Nadi.
As this momentous achievement is celebrated, the Women, Children and Social Protection Minister, Lynda Tabuya, in presenting the trophy to the winning team, reaffirmed Coalition Government’s commitment to promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls in all facets of society, including sports.
Tabuya also acknowledged Wainimala Secondary School for the sterling effort displayed during the final, adding that the success of the Naitasiri Warriors School Girls Rugby League Team exemplifies the limitless potential of women and girls when given the opportunity to thrive and excel.
Students and families braved the Nadi heat and showed up in numbers to support their school teams.
