A 41-year-old man has been remanded in custody following his appearance in the Nasinu Magistrates Court on charges related to the possession of illicit drugs and alleged proceeds of crime.
The accused was intercepted by officers from the Southern Division during a mobile patrol operation along Omkar Road in Narere on 17 June 2026.
Police say a search of the vehicle uncovered several small zip-lock bags containing a white substance, which was later confirmed to be methamphetamine.
Officers also seized a large sum of cash suspected to be linked to criminal activity.
Following investigations, the man was charged with one count of Unlawful Possession of Illicit Drugs and one count of Possession of Proceeds of Crime.
The court remanded him in custody until 2 July 2026.
Police also report that operations targeting unlawful drug possession and cultivation remain active across all five policing divisions.
Authorities say public cooperation through the 1681 toll-free hotline has played a key role in recent seizures of illicit substances and cash, as well as the detection of an operation allegedly selling liquor without a valid licence.
