Maritime security has been strengthened around Denarau this week as the Republic of Fiji Navy supports the South Pacific Defence Ministers’ Meeting (SPDMM).

Personnel from RFNS Timo and the Navy’s Small Boats Squadron are maintaining patrols in waters surrounding the area, working alongside national security agencies and Land Forces personnel.

The teams are monitoring vessel movements, conducting maritime patrols and keeping watch over key approaches to the meeting venue.

The coordinated security presence is intended to strengthen Fiji’s capacity to identify and respond to potential maritime threats while helping ensure the regional defence meeting proceeds safely.

The operation forms part of wider national security efforts supporting the safe hosting of regional events in Fiji.
