Close to 8,000 plants believed to be marijuana have been seized during a police operation at the Bilobiloca farming area in the Northern Division.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Kasiano Vusonilawe said the raid was carried out following information received from the public. A drone was later deployed to confirm the location of the cultivation site before officers moved in.

ACP Vusonilawe acknowledged the vital role of community members in supporting police efforts to combat illicit drugs, saying public information sharing has been key to the success of recent drug raids, leading to significant seizures and arrests.

He thanked members of the public for their continued support in crime prevention efforts.

ACP Vusonilawe also noted that drug operations are conducted using a holistic approach, with officers targeting not only illicit drug activities but also other criminal offences encountered during operations.

Police are urging anyone wishing to report a crime, provide information, or raise concerns about service delivery to contact Crime Stoppers on 1681.
