Families visiting the Balata Hindu Cemetery in Tavua will now benefit from safer and easier access following the completion of a new walkway delivered through a partnership between the Coalition Government and the Balata Hindu Cemetery Trust.

The project was funded under the Ministry’s Multi-Ethnic Grant Programme and officially commissioned last week by the Minister for Public Enterprises, Multi-Ethnic Affairs, Culture, Heritage and Arts, Charan Jeath Singh.

According to Minister Singh, the covered walkway will improve safety and accessibility throughout the cemetery while providing protection from the weather.

He said the upgrade will also allow families to pay their final respects to loved ones in a more comfortable and dignified environment.

The initiative highlights the collaboration between the Government and the Balata Hindu Cemetery Trust and reflects the Coalition Government’s continued support for community-led projects that promote social inclusion, protect cultural and religious heritage, and enhance the wellbeing of Fijians.
