The Sova Ni Bula app launched by the Health and Medical Services Ministry, represents a major advancement in healthcare and non-communicable disease management in Fiji.
The launch was officiated by Chief Medical Officer Dr Luisa Cikamatana.
“The name ‘Sova Ni Bula, meaning Basket of Life, reflects its goal to improve the health of Fijians,” said Dr Cikamatana
During the launch, partners like Suakane Kentaro of JICA and Michael Glees of USAID expressed support for the platform, highlighting its potential to help healthcare workers manage NCDs, reduce wait times and improve care quality.
The app was developed in collaboration with TaiwanICDF, USAID, JICA and other partners and is currently being piloted in four health centres and is expected to improve healthcare efficiency, outcomes and equitable access. Its features include offline functionality, GIS-powered health trend tracking and an easy-to-use interface.
