In the face of challenging circumstances, Joana Waqali, a 44-year-old mother of three, has successfully secured a home for her family, thanks to the support of Habitat for Humanity Fiji.
Living in a crowded five-bedroom house with seven other individuals, Joana and her children
faced the daunting prospect of considering alternative living arrangements due to family
circumstances, casting a constant cloud of uncertainty over their future.
Habitat for Humanity Fiji undertook construction of a $17,000 incremental house which includes a
bedroom and living room area with a spacious porch, providing a solid foundation for the family’s
future.
The incremental nature of the house allows for future extensions as additional
resources become available to Joana and her family.
With the completion of the home, Joana’s children now have a space to study and grow.
Empowered to pursue their educational aspirations with clear focus, they find themselves in a
conducive learning environment that can enhance their academic potential.
