A new champion will be crowned at this year’s Dayals Sawmillers National Regional Club Championship after defending champions Northpole FC of Labasa were eliminated from the competition.

Northpole had claimed the title for the past two consecutive years, leaving six teams to battle for this year’s crown at the 4R Electric Stadium, Govind Park in Ba, from November 11 to 14.

The six teams have been divided into two pools, with Pool A featuring Ba’s Four R FC, Police FC of Tailevu Naitasiri and Nadroga’s Greenstar FC.

Pool B will see Ray United FC of Lautoka, Rewa’s Combine Verata FC and Navua’s Youngstars FC compete for a place in the next stage.

Speaking at the pool draws, Dayals Sawmillers representative Adriu Naisiroki highlighted the importance of club football in developing players and strengthening the country’s football structure.

He says clubs provide young players with the foundation to develop discipline, teamwork and the skills needed to progress to district and national representation.

Naisiroki also acknowledged the dedication of club officials, coaches, volunteers, families and supporters, whose contributions continue to sustain grassroots football.

He adds that the championship provides an important platform for clubs to showcase their talent, build stronger communities and create opportunities for young footballers.

The competition will bring together six clubs from across the country, all hoping to claim the national title in Ba.
