The Coalition Government has embraced an Open Sky Policy to strengthen and improve Fiji’s tourism industry.
A growth of $4 billion is expected over four years.
Deputy Prime Minister Viliame Gavoka announced this move in parliament, with a goal to finalise an agreement with the United States to expand Fiji Airways’ operations beyond its current three destinations.
Despite previous unsuccessful attempts, Gavoka remains optimistic about the US’s response to this policy change.
Fiji’s tourism sector has experienced remarkable growth, surpassing revenue targets in 2023 and projecting a 2% to 5% increase in visitor arrivals for 2024.
This growth is supported by improved airline capacity and ongoing investments in resort development, indicating a promising future for Fiji’s tourism industry.
