A new aviation training facility aimed at strengthening regional expertise has officially opened at the Fiji National University’s Bonunaqwele Campus in Nadi.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Viliame Gavoka, launched the Pacific Centre for Aviation Studies yesterday, describing the development as a significant advancement for both aviation education and regional growth.

Mr. Gavoka said the centre marked an important achievement not only for the university but also for Fiji and the wider Pacific, as aviation continues to play a key role in economic development, tourism, trade and regional connectivity.

He noted that as Pacific nations continue enhancing their aviation sectors, the need for skilled and internationally qualified aviation professionals is increasing.

The new facility reflects collaboration between government, industry partners and educational institutions to strengthen human resource development and maintain Fiji’s position as a leading aviation training hub in the Pacific.

The centre is expected to support the training of future aviation professionals while boosting Fiji’s standing as a regional leader in aviation education and development.
