Delegates of the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police visited the soon-to-be-completed Lautoka Police Station yesterday.

Fiji’s Commissioner of Police and outgoing PICP Chair Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho said like many Pacific Island law enforcement agencies, the Fiji Police Force had inherited older buildings and there was a need to rebuild or renovate to implement recommendations made by independent observers.

Commissioner Qiliho said the newly constructed Lautoka Police Station cost close to $30 million as the Fijian Government and the Fiji Police Force is committed to ensuing improved services in compliance with international standards and best practices.

The PICP Chiefs will be having their Leaders Retreat today.
