The Pacific Oceania Under-15 girls’ team delivered a dominant performance at the Australian Teams Championships on the Gold Coast, defeating Tasmania 3-0 to register its first win of the tournament.

After a tough opening-day encounter against New Zealand, the regional side bounced back in style with convincing victories in both singles matches before sealing the tie in the doubles.

New Caledonia’s Heata-Nui Ista-Toofa set the tone with a straight-sets singles victory, while American Samoa’s Alexandria Amoa displayed resilience to win her match in a deciding match tiebreak.

Heata-Nui Ista-Toofa then teamed up with Vanuatu’s Caroline Andrew to complete the clean sweep, securing a hard-fought doubles victory and a 3-0 result for Pacific Oceania.

The girls’ team features Heata-Nui Ista-Toofa, Caroline Andrew and Alexandria Amoa, and is coached by Elizabeth Tesimu of the Solomon Islands.

The team returns to action today against the Australian Capital Territory as it continues its campaign at the Australian Teams Championships, where some of the region’s top junior players are competing against Australia’s and New Zealand’s best young talent.
