Superintendent Junior Vaalotu from the Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services joined forces with instructors from the Australian Federal Police (AFP) School of Command to deliver a Command, Control and Coordination workshop this month at the AFP Pinkenba Training Centre.
The regional workshop brought together police participants from Fiji, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu, and Australia.
The focus was on developing a unified approach to handling both planned events and emergency incidents, with an emphasis on coordination and leadership.
Superintendent Vaalotu, drawing on Samoa’s successful security operations during the 2024 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, played a key role in sharing practical insights.
Participants gained valuable experience in strategic planning, inter-agency coordination, and crisis management.
The workshop also served as a knowledge-transfer platform, as Solomon Islands prepares to host the 54th Pacific Islands Forum later this year.
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is now tasked with continuing the region’s legacy of secure and well-coordinated international events.
