A government vehicle registered to the Speaker of Parliament was involved in a two-vehicle accident along Rewa Street in Flagstaff, Suva earlier today.
Police officers are currently at the scene and have confirmed that while the vehicle belongs to the Speaker of Parliament, he was not in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
No serious injuries have been reported.
In a statement, the Parliament Secretariat confirmed that one of its official vehicles was involved in the accident.
“We wish to assure the public that preliminary information indicates our driver was not at fault in the incident,” the Secretariat said.
The Secretariat also noted that it is fully cooperating with authorities and is awaiting the official Police report, which is expected to provide a comprehensive assessment of the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Investigations are ongoing.
