A 26-year-old tertiary student was rescued last Saturday from Mount Korobaba after sustaining a thigh injury during a hike with three colleagues.
According to authorities, the incident occurred during a recreational hike when the student slipped and was unable to continue. A distress call was made to the Police Command and Coordination Center (PCCC) by one of the group members.
A joint team from Lami Police Station and the National Fire Authority (NFA) was quickly dispatched to the scene. The responders located the group midway along the foot track of Mount Korobaba and safely assisted the injured student down the trail.
She was taken to the Lami Health Center for treatment and was later discharged.
Authorities have reminded the public to take extra care when venturing out on hikes and to ensure they are well-prepared for emergencies.
