A man charged with the alleged attempted murder of a police officer has been arrested after police executed a bench warrant issued by the Suva High Court.
Police arrested Saimoni Rokotunidau this morning at a residence on Nasinu Road.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Kasiano Vusonilawe says officers from the Serious Organised Crime Unit, the K9 Unit and Valelevu CID carried out the arrest.
The High Court heard yesterday that Rokotunidau had allegedly sold his property and could not be located.
The court issued a bench warrant for his arrest after he failed to appear in court while on bail.
Rokotunidau is accused of driving a vehicle directly into a police roadblock at Laqere in May this year.
Rokotunidau is expected to appear before High Court Judge Justice Dane Tuiqereqere on the 24th of this month.
