The fight against digital scams requires a united effort from every sector of society, Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu said while delivering the keynote address at the launch of National Scams Awareness Week.

Commissioner Tudravu said the Fiji Police Force has strengthened its response to online scams through better coordination, improved reporting systems and the creation of a dedicated Scams Section.

However, he stressed that law enforcement alone cannot tackle the growing threat.

He warned that scammers continue to prey on human vulnerabilities and encouraged members of the public to stay alert by following a simple message: “Stop. Think. Verify.”

The Police Commissioner also called on financial institutions, the media, international partners, young people and consumers to work together in building Fiji’s digital resilience and safeguarding communities against increasingly sophisticated scam tactics.
