The Fiji Police Force is participating in the Future of Peacekeeping Conference, bringing together regional and international stakeholders to discuss the future of peacekeeping operations and the protection of civilians.

The conference is organised by the Stimson Center in partnership with the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs, with support from the Australian Department of Defence and Global Affairs Canada.

The Stimson Center is a United States-based nonprofit and nonpartisan think tank that focuses on global peace and security issues.

Participants include representatives from governments across the region, United Nations officials, regional organisations, peacekeeping training centres and researchers.

The Fiji Police Force, the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces and the Fiji Corrections Service are all represented at the conference, with several Fiji Police officers also serving as panellists during various sessions.

The opening two days focused on lessons and experiences from the Indo-Pacific region to help shape future United Nations and regional peacekeeping operations. Discussions also examined challenges to women’s participation and gender responsiveness in peacekeeping.
