The Fiji Police Force has launched an internal investigation into allegations of misconduct involving officers responding to a case in Nabitu Village, Tailevu.
Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu has tasked the Internal Affairs Unit to urgently probe the incident, emphasizing that such claims threaten the ongoing efforts to rebuild public trust.
“At a time when we are trying to regain trust and confidence, these sorts of allegations put a dent in our efforts,” Tudravu stated.
He added that officers are regularly reminded to uphold the core values of policing integrity and professionalism.
A full report on the incident has been requested from the Acting Director of Internal Affairs for submission to the Commissioner’s Office.
