A police vehicle was involved in an accident after it was used to stop a case of alleged theft of a motor vehicle in Wailoku on yesterday.

A report of a stolen vehicle was received on Thursday 16tth July from Davuilevu Housing, whereby information was broadcasted for police officers to be on the lookout for the car.

The vehicle was sighted in Lami and again in Wailoku whereby officers from the Eastern Division Crime Intel, Southern Division Operations and Quick Response Teams were deployed, and sighted the vehicle driven by an individual with a known criminal history.

The suspect tried to flee the scene, however, the police vehicle was used to block his vehicle.

The police vehicle sustained damage.

The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
