The Water Authority of Fiji advises customers in the Central Eastern Region to prepare for potential water disruptions due to recent heavy rains and flooding.
Weather forecasts indicate that adverse weather will persist, so it is recommended that residents store enough water for 2-3 days whilst they still can.
Heavy rainfall may disrupt water supply systems, leading to low reservoir levels and increased turbidity in water sources due to soil and sediment runoff.
In case of a water disruption, having stored water will help meet immediate needs—early preparation is crucial.
WAF is monitoring the situation and taking precautions to minimise impacts.
Temporary water service interruptions may affect communities in flood-prone areas.
Repairs will be conducted once it is safe.
