President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu has led a state delegation and members of the Vanua o Cakaudrove to the reguregu of the late Momo na Tui Vuda, Ratu Eparama Kitione Tavaiqia, at Viseisei Village.
The reguregu reaffirmed the traditional relationship between the Vanua o Lalagavesi and the Vanua o Vunisei.
Ratu Naiqama paid tribute to the late chief, remembering him as a respected leader known for his humility, kindness and service to his people.
Ratu Tavaiqia died at the age of 95 and will be laid to rest tomorrow at the traditional chiefly burial grounds in Viseisei.
Traditional protocols continue in the village, with the late chief spending his final night at his home before his burial.
The Vanua o Cakaudrove also joined the people of Viseisei in offering condolences to the late chief’s family.
