President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu was formally welcomed yesterday at Fiji’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York following his delivery of Fiji’s national statement at the 81st United Nations General Assembly.

The occasion marked President Lalabalavu’s first participation at the UN General Assembly as Fiji’s Head of State and recognized Fiji’s representation at the global forum.

The President and First Lady, Emily Lalabalavu, were traditionally welcomed by staff of Fiji’s Permanent Mission and their families, as well as members of the Fijian community in New York.

The gathering reflected the spirit of veiwekani and the continued connections among Fijians living and working overseas.

The President, First Lady and their delegation acknowledged the welcome and thanked those who organized and participated in the occasion.
