PSH Hospitals has launched an eight-day Heart Awareness Campaign, with its brand ambassador urging Fijians to take greater responsibility for their heart health.
Speaking at the campaign launch, the sportsman highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, saying regular exercise, nutritious food, adequate rest and avoiding harmful habits such as smoking and excessive alcohol consumption can help protect heart health.
He stressed that heart health is important for everyone, not just athletes, as families depend on their loved ones to remain healthy.
The public was also encouraged not to wait until serious illness develops before seeking medical attention. Regular health checks and early action can help identify health concerns before they become more serious.
Heart disease and stroke reportedly claim around eight lives every day in Fiji, with each loss affecting families and communities.
The brand ambassador encouraged people to stay active, make healthier food choices, manage stress, attend regular medical check-ups and pay attention to warning signs.
He also acknowledged PSH Hospitals, its Heart Team and those involved in the campaign, while encouraging the public to take part in the activities and make use of the health information provided.
