A 30-year-old self-employed man from Davuilevu Housing is back in custody, facing new charges laid by the Fiji Police Force Cyber Crime team for allegedly scamming more victims through fake online rental car ads.
The accused has been charged with two counts of Obtaining Financial Advantage by Deception and two counts of Possession of Property Suspected to be Proceeds of Crime, stemming from two separate incidents linked to a Facebook page called “Elite Rental Cars.”
According to police, on February 11, 2023, the suspect allegedly obtained:
The man allegedly used an online money transfer service in both cases. He remains in police custody and will appear in the Suva Magistrates Court today at 2:30 PM.
This marks a second round of charges against the accused, who was earlier charged in connection with a similar case involving a fake rental car service on social media.
