The Republic of Fiji Military Forces Engineers Regiment has completed a five-day field deployment under Exercise Vau Dei, strengthening the combat engineering skills and operational readiness of its personnel.

The annual training exercise placed troops in simulated operational environments where they carried out a range of combat engineering tasks. These included minefield clearance, route searches, tree felling, water crossing operations, urban and semi-urban manoeuvres, and tactical rappelling to support troop mobility.

Personnel also conducted countermobility activities such as obstacle construction, demolition tasks and terrain denial operations, while establishing defensive positions, camouflage and sustainable field support systems.

A high-intensity SOSRA demonstration formed part of the exercise, with participants carrying out breaching, support and assault operations.

The RFMF says the exercise tested technical ability, physical endurance and teamwork, while ensuring its engineers remain prepared to respond effectively to national and international security requirements.
