A man charged with the attempted murder of a police officer has been granted bail by the Suva High Court.
Saimoni Rokotunidau appeared before Justice Dane Tuiqereqere in the Suva High Court this morning.
His bail was previously revoked after he failed to appear in court between July 28 and August 13 this year.
Defence lawyer Timoci Varinava told the court that Rokotunidau did not deliberately abscond bail but had required medical dressing for his injuries on 13th August before he was later admitted to hospital.
Varinava told the court that the dressing was necessary as the injuries were affecting his client.
Rokotunidau is alleged to have been driving a vehicle that deliberately rammed into a roadblock manned by a police officer in Laqere in May this year.
In granting bail, Justice Tuiqereqere warned Rokotunidau that this was his last opportunity, cautioning that any further breach of his bail conditions would result in him being remanded in custody.
He has been ordered to report to the Valelevu Police Station every Sunday.
The matter has been adjourned to the 25th of this month.
