Rewa FC face a crucial battle to keep their OFC Men’s Champions League semi-final hopes alive after suffering a heavy defeat in their opening Group B match.

The Delta Tigers were beaten 4-1 by Vanuatu champions Galaxy FC at Churchill Park in Lautoka, leaving them without a point after the first round of matches.

Lae City FC of Papua New Guinea also recorded a 4-1 victory over Tupapa Maraerenga of the Cook Islands in the other Group B fixture.

Galaxy and Lae City currently sit at the top of the group with three points each, while Rewa and Tupapa are yet to open their accounts.

With only the top two sides advancing to the semi-finals, Rewa must win both of their remaining group matches to stay in contention.

Player-coach Tevita Waranaivalu says the team will assess its opening performance before turning its attention to the next challenge.

Rewa will meet Tupapa Maraerenga on Wednesday at 4R Stadium at Govind Park in Ba, before completing their group campaign against Lae City.
