Rugby Sevens legend and PSH Hospitals brand ambassador Waisale Serevi is encouraging members of the public to make their heart health a priority by attending a free Heart Wellness Symposium in Nadi on Tuesday, September 22.

The event will run from 6pm to 9pm and will give members of the public an opportunity to engage directly with experienced heart specialists.

Serevi says the symposium is an important opportunity for people to learn more about their heart health and take action early.

He will also attend the event for a special meet-and-greet with members of the public.

PSH Hospitals founder and chief executive officer Parvish Kumar is particularly encouraging people aged 40 and above to attend, understand their heart-health risks and seek advice where necessary.

The symposium is part of PSH Hospitals’ World Heart Month programme, being held under the theme “Don’t Miss a Beat.”

The programme follows concerns that heart disease and stroke are reported to claim around eight lives each day in Fiji.

The public will be able to speak with PSH Hospitals’ Heart Team, which includes cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon Dr Sanjeev Kumar Khulbey, interventional cardiologist Dr Srikar Miryala and consultant cardiologist Dr Omar Niazi.

The three specialists have a combined 100 years of experience in heart health.

They will provide free general advice on recognising warning signs, reducing the risk of heart disease, maintaining regular health checks and seeking medical attention before conditions become serious.

People who require further assessment will also have the opportunity to discuss follow-up consultations with the Heart Team.
