Police have arrested one of three suspects allegedly involved in a daylight burglary in the Nasinu area.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Kasiano Vusonilawe said the suspect was arrested in Namadi and is currently being held at the Valelevu Police Station.
ACP Vusonilawe said the suspect will also be questioned in relation to other pending cases involving similar offences. Police continue to search for the remaining two suspects.
Meanwhile, the suspect linked to a separate burglary in Nausori remains in remand.
ACP Vusonilawe said police received a report of an alleged assault on August 12. The suspect was arrested, charged and appeared in court on August 14, where he was remanded until August 26.
The burglary report was formally lodged on August 14, while the suspect was being processed in relation to the assault case.
ACP Vusonilawe said police will apply to the court for the suspect to be remanded in police custody to allow investigators to pursue the burglary case.
He said divisional operations teams are taking reports of robberies, burglaries and petty crime seriously, with more targeted operations planned to ensure police remain proactive.
The operations will be strengthened as August brings school holidays and major events across the country.
