Suva Grammar School has been crowned the Under-18 Southern Zone Deans champions after defeating Nasinu Secondary School 29-22 in the final.
Suva Grammar dominated the early stages and built a comfortable lead before surviving a late Nasinu fightback to secure the title.
The side came out firing, crossing for two unanswered tries to take a 10-nil lead, with both conversion attempts drifting wide.
Despite being reduced to 14 players following a yellow card for a dangerous tackle, Grammar continued to apply pressure and capitalized on a turnover to score again, this time converting for a 17-nil advantage.
Nasinu responded with a try before adding a penalty kick to close the gap to 17-8.
The second half saw Grammar maintain control, scoring another converted try to extend the lead to 24-8.
A second yellow card to Grammar gave Nasinu an opening, and they took advantage with a converted try to cut the deficit to 24-15.
Nasinu was then shown a yellow card of its own, and Grammar made the extra numbers count, crossing for another try to stretch the lead to 29-15.
Both teams missed opportunities from the kicking tee before Nasinu scored a late converted try to narrow the final margin.
However, time ran out for the challengers as Suva Grammar held on for a hard-fought 29-22 victory.
