Tavua College were crowned Open Girls champions at the Extra Fiji Secondary Schools Football Championship 2026 after staging a spirited 2-1 comeback victory over Dreketi Central College in the final in Labasa.

Dreketi Central made a strong start to the decider and took a 1-0 lead into halftime, putting Tavua under pressure.

The western side responded superbly after the break, showing resilience and composure to overturn the deficit and score twice in the second half to claim the national title.

Tavua booked their place in the final with a convincing 3-0 victory over Lekutu Secondary School in the semi-finals, while Dreketi Central advanced after edging Waiqele College 4-3 in a penalty shootout following a tense encounter.

The win capped off an outstanding tournament for Tavua College, whose determination and teamwork proved decisive when it mattered most.

Despite falling short in the final, Dreketi Central College can take pride in a strong championship campaign, finishing as worthy runners-up in Labasa.
