Team Fiji has officially confirmed a 29-member delegation for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal, with athletes from six sports set to represent the nation on the world stage from October 31 to November 13.

The announcement was made by the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC) following an extensive selection and justification process conducted by its Selection Justification Committee and approved by the FASANOC Executive Board and Board of Management.

The delegation comprises 21 athletes, seven officials and one Chef de Mission, representing Athletics, Basketball 3×3, Boxing, Futsal, Swimming and Triathlon.

In a statement, FASANOC congratulated all athletes and officials selected to wear the Fiji colours in Dakar, describing their selection as a reflection of years of dedication, discipline and sacrifice. The organisation also acknowledged the support provided by coaches, families, national federations and support staff throughout the athletes’ journeys.

Among those named in the squad are athletes such as Ilaisa Roko Tabete in athletics, boxers Norman Amram and Merewalesi Vulavou Saumai Kolitapa, swimmers Khelan Grace Elizabeth and Thaddeus Albert Kwong, and triathletes Josiah Alfred Delaiono Croker and Lepani Waqanivalu Maiwiriwiri. The largest contingent comes from the women’s futsal team, which will field 10 players.

FASANOC also paid tribute to athletes who narrowly missed selection, thanking them for their commitment during the qualification period and encouraging them to continue pursuing future international opportunities.

Team Fiji will depart for Senegal on October 26 and return on November 14, with several key activities planned before departure, including team medicals, the traditional I-Tatau ceremony on October 21, and the official team assembly and uniform distribution.

As preparations intensify, FASANOC is calling on all Fijians to rally behind the country’s young athletes as they prepare to compete against the world’s best youth talent in Dakar.
