The third state witness in the trial against nine individuals charged with the importation and possession of methamphetamine, Apenai Turaganikeli, confirmed in court that he suspected they were loading methamphetamine from the yacht into their barge.

When asked in court how he knew, he said that the captain of the barge, Ratu Isoa Dina, had told him it was methamphetamine.

Earlier, while giving evidence, Dina told the court that he was scared when they were loading the consignment, as he suspected it contained drugs.

Turaganikeli confirmed in court that he was one of the first people to enter the yacht to load sealed, wrapped containers onto the barge.

He also confirmed that he went on the first, second, and third trips to the Yasawa waters under the instructions of David Heritage, who is one of the accused persons.

Turaganikeli is David Heritage’s brother in law.

It was also established in court that David Heritage was taking instructions from a Russian Man, who was introduced to him be Justin Ho.

The trial continues in the Lautoka Court.
