Police are investigating three separate alleged drowning incidents reported over the past week, including the death of a young child and an elderly farmer, while the search for a missing diver remains ongoing.

The first incident involved a three-year-old child whose body was discovered floating in a river near Lawaki Village in Tailevu on the afternoon of 10 July.

The case was reported through the Korovou Police Station, and investigators are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.

In Sigatoka, search efforts continue for a 20-year-old man who disappeared after being swept away by a strong current while diving on 10 July.

The incident was reported by a 15-year-old who had accompanied him. Divers from the Police Mobile Force have been searching the waters off Naevuevu Village, but the operation has so far been unsuccessful.

In a separate incident in Sigatoka, the body of a 68-year-old farmer was recovered from waters off Yadua on the afternoon of 11 July.

A joint search operation involving Police Mobile Force divers and members of the Shangri-La Hydro Sports team located the victim after he allegedly drowned when his boat capsized.

Investigations into all three alleged drowning incidents are continuing.
