Minister for Defence and Veterans Affairs, Pio Tikoduadua, has expressed strong support for the reappointment of Ro Jone Kalouniwai as Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces when his current 5 year contract expires later this year.
According to Tikoduadua, Section 131(4) of the Constitution requires consultation with the Minister, in the appointment of the RFMF Commander.
He stated that the Constitutional Offices Commission had consulted him on the matter and he had indicated his strong support for Kalouniwai’s reappointment.
The Minister also confirmed that he met with the Commander in his office this afternoon and conveyed his support directly.
Tikoduadua wished Kalouniwai well in the continuation of his duties in serving and protecting the people of Fiji.
