The monthly transport assistance provided to eligible beneficiaries will increase from $26 to $32, effective today, Thursday, November 5.
The increase applies to older persons who use purple eTransport cards and persons with disabilities who hold green eTransport cards under the Transport Assistance Scheme (TAS).
The monthly top-up will continue to be determined by card utilisation.
Under the revised arrangement, TAS beneficiaries will have the full bus fare at the new rate deducted from their eTransport cards.
However, passengers who are not covered by the scheme and use red eTransport cards will continue paying the previous bus fare. The Government will cover the difference by making direct payments to bus companies.
