Police have arrested two men in connection with a recent sacrilege incident at a temple in Rakiraki, following a targeted raid by the Criminal Investigations Department earlier this month.
The operation, carried out in the Rewasa area by officers from the Rakiraki CID, led to the recovery of sound equipment believed to have been stolen from the temple during the alleged break-in.
The suspects are currently in police custody as investigations into the case continue. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of further arrests as they work to determine the full extent of the crime.
The incident has drawn concern from local communities and leaders, with calls for greater respect and protection of places of worship.
