Two men have now been formally charged with murder in connection to the death of an elderly man following a violent home invasion in Nagigi, Savusavu last month.

Initially charged with aggravated robbery, the pair were accused of breaking into the victim’s home, assaulting him, and stealing various items.

The victim later succumbed to his injuries at the end of April, prompting a shift in the investigation’s focus.

Police investigators pursued additional charges after the Labasa High Court granted temporary custody of the accused for further questioning.

Both men have now each been charged with one count of murder and are scheduled to appear at the Labasa Magistrates Court today.
