Farmers in Vanuabalavu, Lau, are being encouraged to adopt sustainable land management and climate-smart farming methods through training delivered by the Ministry of Agriculture, Waterways and Sugar Industry.
Over the past two weeks, officers from the Ministry’s Land Resources, Planning and Development Division have been working with communities across the island to share practical skills aimed at improving farming methods, maintaining soil health and helping farmers respond to climate change.
The team has welcomed the strong response from communities, with farmers showing interest in learning new techniques and improving their existing practices.
The positive reception reflects a growing awareness among farmers of the importance of protecting natural resources and adapting to changing weather patterns.
The Ministry continues to engage with rural and maritime communities to promote sustainable agriculture, strengthen food security and support livelihoods for current and future generations.
