Fiji’s judiciary has welcomed Ms. Vinaina Diroiroi as its newest Resident Magistrate, following her official swearing-in before the President of the Republic of Fiji, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, at State House today.
Ms. Diroiroi took the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Due Execution of Judicial Office in the presence of Chief Justice Salesi Temo, Chief Registrar Tomasi Bainivalu, and Acting Chief Magistrate Josaia Waqaivolavola.
Her appointment comes after a decade of legal experience across both the public and private sectors. Most recently, she served in the Legal Risk and Compliance Unit of Fiji Ports Corporation Ltd and its subsidiary Fiji Ships and Heavy Industries Ltd. Prior to that, Ms. Diroiroi spent eight years with the Legal Aid Commission, where she rose to Officer-in-Charge of the Lautoka office and represented clients across civil, criminal, and family law matters in Fiji’s courts.
Ms. Diroiroi also has experience in private practice, having begun her legal career at Vuataki Law in 2013. She holds a Master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from the University of Fiji, a Diploma in Legislative Drafting from USP, and a Bachelor of Law and Diploma in Legal Practice from USP.
Her appointment is expected to strengthen judicial service delivery and further support access to justice across Fiji.
