The Electoral Commission of the Republic of Fiji and the Fijian Elections Office say voter registration efforts will continue nationwide as preparations intensify for Fiji’s next General Election.
The announcement follows confirmation by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka that Local Government Elections will now be held after the General Election.
Despite the revised election schedule, the Electoral Commission and the FEO say preparations for the national polls remain on track, with work continuing on voter registration, election planning, systems testing, recruitment of election officials and public awareness programmes.
Officials say voter registration activities have become even more important, with the next General Election expected to take place between 7 August 2026 and 6 February 2027.
FEO teams are continuing outreach programmes in villages, settlements, schools, tertiary institutions and workplaces across the country to ensure eligible voters can register, verify and update their details.
Since the launch of the YES Outreach Nationwide Voter Registration and Awareness campaign on 4 May 2026, more than 16,000 people have accessed voter services nationwide.
The Electoral Commission and the FEO are encouraging eligible Fijians to register early and update their information before an election date is announced.
Both institutions say they remain committed to delivering a transparent, credible and professional electoral process while ensuring all eligible voters can participate confidently in Fiji’s democratic system.
