Fiji Bulikula head coach Jone Wesele says the side has a strong foundation ahead of the Rugby League World Cup, following discussions with coaching staff involved with the team over the past three years.

Wesele says the squad’s performances in last year’s Rugby League Pacific Championships, along with their individual club campaigns, give him confidence as the Bulikula aim to deliver a strong showing for supporters back home.

“I’ve been in touch with my coaches in Australia who were with the team for the last three years before I came in. So, we have a good squad considering their performance these last three years and we’re determined to go and perform for everyone in Fiji.”

He believes unity across management, coaches and players will be crucial, saying a shared goal can help the Bulikula achieve something special at their World Cup debut.

“When there’s unity, nothing can stop us. From management to the coaches and the girls, if we have one goal in mind where we try to achieve great things during the World Cup, if we come together, nothing can stop us.”
