Two students from Jai Narayan College in Suva scored the highest mark in Fiji School Leaving Certificate Examination scoring 398 out of 400.
Demira Lal and Shriha Deo couldn’t believe they scored the highest marks in the country.
The young women , both science students, were over the moon and proud to have achieved their target despite the impact of COVID-19 on education.
Deo says the COVID-19 was challenging in the sense that she had to study at home for about six months.
” So it was difficult in that sense and but we did manage because our teachers were very dedicated in giving us the right education”.
The high achievers dedicated their accomplishment to their family.
Lal says her motivation was her parents as she wanted make them proud.
“My family, my brother and my parents, especially my parent, because whenever I look at our hard they work, it makes me want to work harder and achieve something good for them.”
Jai Narayan College Principal Rajendra Kumar says the school is proud of the achievement.
Demira Lal has plans to become an engineer while Shriha Deo plans to pursue something in medicine.
