An Air India Boeing 787 en route to London crashed on June 12, 2025, seconds after takeoff from Ahmedabad, India.
Of the 242 people on board, only one – a 40-year-old British national, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh; survived. The aircraft collided with buildings, tragically killing over 290 individuals including passengers, crew, students, and residents.
Authorities from India, the UK, and the US are coordinating closely on rescue, recovery, and investigation efforts. Ramesh, seated by an exit in seat 11A, escaped in the initial moments post-crash with non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause remains under investigation; black box data and gear-gear and engine thrust records are being analyzed. Global condolences and support efforts are pouring in as families await further news.
