The new Crest Chicken Hatchery in Waila, Nausori is committed to empowering women in their services and operations.
Goodman Fielder International General Manager Fiji Tim Carter says more than fifty percent of the company’s employees are women.
“Through direct training under Goodman Fielder Internationally own externally accredited Crest Academy, local employees are provided with industry recognised competencies and certification in Poultry husbandry.
He said, the natural instincts of a woman is crucial in the hatchery, particularly with carying for the chicks.
He said, this is a great example of empowering women to be great contributor to economic development.
He said, employing more women in the hatchery is an important milestone for the poultry operations in Fiji.
