The Governor-General of Australia, His Excellency General, the Honourable David Hurley, and the Minister for Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport, Faiyaz Koya, yesterday opened the new Nausori Municipal Market Women’s Accommodation Centre.
The FJ$629,380 markets for change project is expected to benefit 80 women market vendors from Rewa, Tailevu and Naitasiri.
The centre will bring relief to women who had to previously sleep on the pavements and verandas at the market in Nausori.
Speaking at the event, Minister Koya said that market development remains a top priority of the Ministry of Local Government’s plans to expand Fiji’s infrastructure in all thirteen Municipal Councils.
