Team Fiji has appointed Olympian swimmer David Young and Taekwondo athlete Venice Traill as the flagbearers for the 2024 Paris Olympics Closing Ceremony.
Their selection as flag bearers is a testament to their achievements and dedication to their sports, making them role models for aspiring athletes in Fiji.
20 year old Young is known for his exceptional sprint freestyle abilities and has a unique and impressive journey.
In a highlight of his Olympic journey, Young won heat 5 of the Men’s 50m Freestyle, setting a new national record with a time of 22.71 seconds.
His performance not only showcased his speed and skill but also brought pride to his home country, further solidifying his status as one of Fiji’s top athletes.
Venice Traill has been a trailblazer in Fijian Taekwondo.
The 27-year-old has made significant strides in a sport that has seen limited exposure in the Pacific region and it’s through her perseverance and hard work culminated in her historic qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics, alongside teammate Lolohea Navuga Naitasi.
