Vanua Levu mahogany trustees meet for key consultation on harvesting operations

Trustees from six mahogany plantations in Vanua Levu met with the Ministry of Forestry, Fiji Mahogany Trust, Fiji Hardwood Corporation Limited and iTaukei Land Trust Board in Labasa yesterday. 

The consultations were conducted to ensure transparency and engage stakeholders before starting harvesting operations. 

Divisional Commissioner Northern, Uraia Rainima, highlighted the milestone for landowners and the link to the Government’s National Development Plan. 

Fiji Hardwood Corporation Limited Chairman Iowane Naiveli stressed the importance of good governance and revenue generation. 

The trustees represent plantations in Navonu, Saqani, Seaqaqa, Dreketi, Korotari and Wainunu.
